established Capstone Projects
Each year, Leadership Hendricks County classes tackle real-world challenges through capstone projects that address the unique needs of our community. These projects, born from the collaboration and innovation of our participants, have turned into impactful initiatives that continue to make a difference in Hendricks County. We’re proud to highlight the lasting contributions these projects have had, strengthening our community for years to come.
VoteHC.org
VoteHC began as a capstone project by a group of passionate participants in the 2023 Leadership Hendricks County (LHC) Community Leadership Program. Created by Vince McCarley, Brooke Orner, Erin Lucas, Joe Brooks, and Pete Brown, the project aimed to increase voter education and engagement in Hendricks County.
Recognizing barriers such as confusion around registration, polling locations, and election procedures, the team worked closely with local election officials and community leaders to create a comprehensive, user-friendly resource. Their efforts culminated in the launch of VoteHC.org, a nonpartisan platform that centralizes voting information and simplifies the process for residents.
Since its inception, VoteHC has become a vital tool for encouraging community involvement, fostering civic engagement, and empowering residents to make their voices heard.
Young Professionals of Hendricks County
The Hendricks County Young Professionals (YPHC) initiative was developed as a capstone project by members of the Leadership Hendricks County Class of 2023: EveMarie Bessenbach, Drew Fuetz, Amanda Timm, Kim White, and Holly Reynolds. The project was designed to foster connections among young professionals across Hendricks County while addressing the need for greater engagement and collaboration between the eastern and western parts of the county.
YPHC creates opportunities for relationship-building, professional development, and community involvement. Its goal is to inspire young professionals to explore all of Hendricks County and become active contributors to its growth. Through networking events, workshops, and community-focused initiatives, YPHC continues to fulfill this mission.
